Original receipts and copy of FINAS payment may be obtained at the FINAS office.
A permit application which is complete will be processed and issued with a film permit immediately.
2) Censorship of Film/Tape
(Processing Film Censorship Application)
All films, whether local or imported, must be approved by the Board of Film Censors first before they are distributed or exhibited to the public. Each film that has been viewed by the board and found to be fit for exhibition will be issued a Censorship Certificate (Certificate ‘A’) within one (1) working day.

• Original film (master) for viewing and censorship (35 mm film/ tape)
Censorship fees are imposed according to the Film (Censorship) (Fees) Regulations 1984. The amount imposed is based on duration of screening time or length of tape (35 mm/3D/2D/hard disk).
• Censorship of Film/Tape Publicity Material
3) Processing Film/Tape Publicity Material Censorship Application
All film publicity materials, whether local or imported, must be approved by the Board of Film Censors first before being distributed or exhibited to the public. The decision of the film/tape publicity material censorship will be issued within two (2) working days of the date of application.

Payment is imposed according to the Film (Censorship) (Fees) Regulations 1984 (Amendment) 1987.
4) Film Censorship Certificate
i) Processing application and issuing Film Censorship Certificate
Each film viewed by the Board of Film Censors and found to be fit for exhibition will be issued a Censorship Certificate (Certificate ‘A’). Duplicate copies of films to be exhibited and distributed to the public will be issued a Duplicate Censorship Certificate (Certificate ‘B’).

The fee imposed is RM 1/copy (tape).
• Film/Tape Appeal
ii) Processing Film/ Film Publicity Material/Tape Appeal Applications
The owner of any film who is not satisfied with the decision of the Board of Film Censors may submit a notice of appeal to the Film Appeal Committee within 30 days of the date of notification of the decision.

The fees imposed are as follows:
• Cinematograph film – RM 200
• Tape – RM 100
• Film publicity material
a) Tape : RM 10/ title
b) Film : RM 50/ title
• Members of the Board of Film Censors
5) Offer of Appointment as Members of the Board of Film Censors
Applications are invited from qualified Malaysian citizens to serve as members of the Board of Film Censors at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
